Sick-- sneezing, shaking head, and poopy butt

They have no discharge or mucus. BUT, I do believe this is respiratory! I think I will pick up Tylan on my way out. Someone suggest mites-- and that might be why mine are shaking their heads. I'm willing to try anything. Maybe mine have a combination of mites and a respiratory infection. I'm definitely worried. I'm so glad your bird seems to be doing better! Are you giving the Tylan injection into the breast meat? I think I'll pick up some syringes while I'm out. I only have horse sized needles and syringes. Nothing smaller than that.

Hawkeye95, I know it's been well over a year since you had these issues with your chickens. I am having similar problems, affecting my 10 5-week old chicks to varying degrees. I had 11 chicks but one died, after his lungs/throat were filled with clear mucus. I consulted the University of Kentucky poultry department and "The Chicken Health Handbook," plus read countless articles and forums on this. I've decided it's one of the respiratory infections, such as air sac disease, chronic respiratory infection, etc. but I don't know which one. I have them on Durmamycin-10, (tetracycline antibiotirc) and am hoping to ward off any further deaths.

So, my question is, what was the outcome for your 3 chickens? I know it was a long time ago but can you remember what you ended up deciding it was and did you try any treatments that did and/or did not work?

Thanks much, I hopefully can learn from you and maybe save a few of these sweet chicks.

I'm curious too about the outcome on your chickens. Where did they come from (distributor?) If they arrived sick, you should be able to contact the distributor for compensation ( I wouldn't want any more chickens from that particular distributor, though).
