Sick Swede

Hey all, I have a 4-5 year old female blue swede. She's always been a bossy, chatty gal. About five days ago I noticed she was acting weird. She opens her beak and stretches her neck out, but no sound comes out. She hasn't quaked in almost a week. She keeps herself separate from the other ducks, where she was usually in the middle bossing everyone around. She seems to be losing weight, and although she is still drinking and laying just fine, I don't really see her eat a whole lot. Any ideas? I love all my duckies, but Genevieve has always been one of my favorites

Omg I'd never even heard of it! I just looked it up and the symptoms are almost exact. Thank you so much! I'll do some more research and figure out the best way to treat. So many people have different ideas of how to treat :/

No problem. Fingers crossed you can fix it. I honestly don't know much about it. I just know what you described sounds just like it

Well to update...pretty sure it was gapeworm. I stopped at the feed store today to grab meds, came home to treat and found that she had passed. I'm so angry at myself for waiting to post on here. I'll be keeping the meds and dosing all my ducks periodically from now on to make sure this doesn't happen again.
