Good afternoon!

Let me start by saying that I am a first time fowl / turkey owner, and we are learning as we go.
We currently raise chickens, guinea fowl and 4 turkeys. They all free range, but at night the chickens are cooped and the turkeys and guineas have been trained to coop in a separate run. We live in So. IL where there was quite a bit of rain last week as well.

Two nights ago I noticed that one of our Toms was bleeding. To the best of my knowledge, he had broken or another bird had pecked at a blood feather. This has happened before and we have treated with Blue Kote and/or Vetericyn with no issues. Yesterday I noticed he was limpiing slightly, but still moving around, eating and drinking. No active bleeding.

This morning when I went to open the coop for range time, he was lying down on the ground with his head tucked. (Normally he is puffed up and ready to go out.) He could barely get up off of the ground. Will no eat or drink at all. I did my best to inspect him. No visible wounds, bleeding, labored breathing, issues with vent, or eyes, mouth, etc......

One thing out of the ordinary that I've noticed is that his right leg seems to be a little out to the side when he's lying down, and the toes are curled up.

I can't tell you at this time exactly what his poop looks like since he is housed with the other birds. But, I can say that I have seen some large very dark, runny stools on the property the past couple of days. A vet is not an option due to cost (I've already researched). I did as much research as I could here before posting, and was able to get some Corid from the local farm supply store.

Does anyone have any suggestions or are we just waiting on the inevitable. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to BYC, sorry your turkey is sick. Is this turkey a pet or will you be butchering him?

He is a BBB, and easily weighs about 35 pounds. All of our turkeys were initially bought with the intent of keeping as pets, but I'm finding now that we were a bit naive in purchasing this breed for that as they may get too big to keep?
