A little over a week ago I got 2 just hatched peachicks. They were doing great until about 2 days ago. One I noticed was drooping her wings, breathing heavy and very lethargic. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Yesterday morning I noticed it was gurgling when it breathed and the other one was also hanging it's wings and breathing a little heavier. I immediately freaked and knew it was respiratory. I found tylan 50 but couldn't get my hands on the 200. I gave both less than an 1/8cc right then and gave the sicker one another dose last night and both a dose this am. The one is back to it's chirpy happy self although sleeping a bit more than before. The sicker one is a good bit better and the gurgling isn't near as loud. Should I dose the sicker one 3 times a day? How long should I do it for? I read no longer than 5 days. TIA! 🙂

The one seems to be taking a turn for the worst now. It is still eating and drinking and has normal poop, but just stands on her bear hanging her wings, breathing heavy and occasionally opening and closing her mouth like gasping for air. After I gave her the morning meds it's even worse? Could the meds be making it worse. The other one was doing almost 100% better after 2 doses. The sick sick one is now kinda crying. I really don't think she will make it! Please help 😭

The number one killer of chicks is cocci but at one week old they can not have developed cocci yet. I am more inclined to think they have gotten cold or overheated. Most likely cold. Be sure they have a heat source and can get away from it when they get too warm. Keep them in a draft free area with no contact with other chicks that may have been naturally hatched or been on the ground.

They were hatched in an incubator and have never been outside. I did have a chicken inside getting bumblefoot treatment, but she was in a different brooder in a different room and we washed our hands after each handling. We all had a cold just before we got them and I'm thinking passed it onto them. I'm afraid of over medicating or not enough meds or not the correct one.

My mistake, I thought you got two chicks from someone else.
Im sorry, I didn't clarify. I did get them from my neighbor but they hatched them in the incubator and called me that afternoon to pick them up. One was in the incubator longer than the other one, but they have only been outside when I carried them from there to here .

Their peahen will only hatch chickens🙄. They aren't with chickens anymore, but she still won't sit on her own eggs lol she hatched several sets of chickens before they separated them.
