i dont know what caused it. it passed on earlier today. im sure it did suffer some but not much i hope. it just came out of the blue.

That is so sad, but at least its out of pain now. My quails often hit their heads and get a drop of blood from their nose. They seem to rest up for awhile and they are right as rain, but even then I feel for them and watch them.
My silly guys bounce up only when there is a loud thunderstorm. There is nothing I can really do as I have canaries in the aviary with them and putting a net up would be harmful to the canaries.
Have you googled the symptoms, would love to know what it was that made it so sick.

hmm that is weird, I can't find anything about brown vomit either. Maybe you could start a different thread and ask if anyone has ever had that symptom before.
JJ would be someone to ask too. He is what I consider an expert on here and he is always happy to help.

Defiantly good advice!
A new post in the "Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures" thread is worth a try. I know the bird is dead, but it is always nice to know if what was wrong with it is contagious or not. The quail section is suffering a brain drain at the moment but maybe someone with general poultry knowledge can offer the OP help.

Sorry about the loss.... Tell me each and every sign and sympton you noticed and maybe i can come up with a culprit. Pix are always helpful too. As a general rule i'd go to strict lockdown quarentine immediately and biological isolation or it may cost you many more than 1 bird depending on what it was....
