Hello,

I have a rooster with two short sickle feathers. I was wondering if after he molts if they could possibly grow back long?

Depending upon the cause for their shortness, they may very well grow back normal. It is not uncommon to pull such feathers in show birds. Sometimes even off color feathers regrow the proper color.

Edited to add - never pull blood/pin feathers.

I sure hope they do :fl
I bought him as a chick and they just grew like that. I'm not sure if it's genetic or not:confused:... hus father's sickle feathers were long.
Thanks Sourland

If he is just a cockerel, my gut says that his mature sickle feathers will be longer. Hopefully he takes after his father.
Joe how old is he? It’s taken my standard size cockerel a long time to grow long feathers. His were short too.
He turned a year In September, so once he molts it'll be his first molt.
