I don't think it's weird for animal owners, we all want to make sure our animals are healthy. Might be weird to the non-animal person though, haha. I think we can take the healthy poo for granted though, until suddenly there's something wrong...

Satay - thanks! And yep, Gatton uni vets. It was easier for me since I could take him and have him on campus when I had class and could just pick him up before heading home. Students of UQ Gatton get a 5% discount too, which isn't much, but it's something. I'll keep that in mind about the Esk vets though, if he needs to go again. How much is a consult with their avian vet? And yeah, kinda. Pine Mountain! It's halfway from where we live now anyway, since we have people in the family who still need to travel to the city daily.

I think I paid $36 dollars(consult) last time I took a chicken in a bit extra for tests etc. I know pine mountain well. We go that way to Ipswich a lot of the time.

"Major Injuries", as quoted. NOT "diseased". A duck that's obviously diseased, as opposed to Injured, will be killed immediately and thrown away, not eaten. I wouldn't take the risk of it infecting the flock.

Sampy we are all very happy you found Whistles and went through all you did to get him healthy and happy for he is surely one happy drake.

YOU can disagree if you like, but any farmer, not just me, will cull diseased or injured birds, it's to protect the rest of the flock. Maybe you think of your birds as pets? Mine are livestock.

If you even half read the thread, you would have realised that your opinion was irrelevant in this particular case as it was not related in any way, shape or form with an animals productivity but the instance, and reversal, of animal cruelty conducted by a produce store.

I respect your point of view and way of life but it has no place in this particular thread, as it can be plainly seen, so I kindly ask that you respect the decisions that were made two months ago and leave it be.

From my years on this forum, and in my area, I know there are different approaches to animal care. Each has their benefits. It behooves each of us to respect others whether or not we agree.

If posts on a thread run counter to my approach I leave it be unless there appears to be neglect or abuse.
