Sifting and Bagging Compost

I cobbled up a sifting/bagging table for my compost bin, sure made that task easy.

I have a very similar sifter that I made from wood frame and Hardware cloth. I use mine to sift out my ashes from my fire-pit. Things like nails get caught on top. I use a magnet to remove those. The small things that fall thru drop into 32 gallon trash can I have frame sitting on. The larger pieces get returned to burn pile.

I use same sifter to sift out old roots and such from my used flower pots soil content. Every spring the flower pots get refilled with fluffy, root-free soil.

Simple machines make life chores soooo much easier.

@cavemanrich do you make soap with your ashes? I have an abundance of hardwood ash this winter so looking for ideas to use this resource.

No soap.. I just sprinkle it into flower beds.
