I can't free range, the coyote is very hungry and I just can't introduce more ducks to be eaten. This site has been fantastic and I appreciate all the help and advice. I will miss my little Quakers but I am down to 6 as Emily was eaten today and Sitting was injured. The dog tried to get Emily back but wasn't fast enough. Maybe someday I can build a run and start again. Maybe The geese will make it. Very discouaged. Went almost a year without losing anyone, then went from 14 to 6 in a couple of months. Thanks again everyone. This is a fantastic community.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve lost 4 out of my original flock. Two to predators and two to cars. Never gets easier, and always seems to be the favorites that go.

I literally just went through this I am so sorry The coyote snatched my 4 month old right in front of me and then came back to take my favorite Ameraucana.
I hate coyotes so much, I am sending you so much mental support. I'm so very sorry this happened to you, I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

I am so sorry you lost another one. I can’t imagine having water fowl with out safe fencing it doesn’t always stop predators. But it can slow them down and def keep them out of the road.Geese have now better way of protecting themselves from a predator than a duck can.

I live in a rural area fairly close to the road. For a while they would cross the road. (25 mph) but everyone’s doing 45, into my neighbors yard. I found out she was feeding them every day and politely asked her to stop. Which she did after I explained what was happening. I’ve debated on keeping them penned up but I just can’t. They hate it.

My girls really love the yard and yell to get out in the morning. No road, the plumber was careless coming down my driveway. When it was the bobcat, I had a fighting chance, but the coyote has the best of me. The geese really can't protect themselves, they can just run faster. They will be the last to go.
