I have BR chick about 6 weeks old, a few of them have this very interesting reddening under their eyes and around the comb. Is this a sign of a rooster? Just curious, I am going to keep them either way

"under the eyes": do you mean the wattles? They're little things under the side of the beak, and will get big and dangly as the birds grow up.

Yes, comb and wattles getting redder at that age is a good sign of male chicks.

When someone has just one chick it can be hard to tell, but with several chicks of the same breed it's much easier. The ones with big/red combs & wattles are cockerels, the small/pale ones are pullets, and the in-between ones can drive you crazy guessing ;)

I have 3 BR pullets that had big combs like that at a young age but they had the barring pattern of pullets. I was still convinced that somehow I had the worst luck in the world and got 3 cockerels but they all turned out to be girls so I think that bigger combs might just be a trait for that breed.

I think she’s a pullet, very tame and loving but I had one last year that became a rooster over night lol!
