Sausage, eggs and pancakes. I am so stuffed. And happy.

DD and Fiancé came for breakfast, swap cars and talk weddings. I've gotten her down to $25,000 to elope. I'm waiting to hear how much the groom's father is willing to pitch in. The wedding budget is up to $2,500. Still in negotiation. Wish me luck.

Checked on the garden and the chickens. The sunflowers are yellowing and the chickens love them already. I believe they are a hit.

Sounds like venison and gravy tonight. Served on a bed of quinoa. Fresh cucumbers and tomatoes on the side. May become lunch, though. Follow up with cake, sorbet and maybe cherry pie filling. I need to cook that bag of carrots too...

Stop it, I’m starving.

Good luck on the wedding negotiations. I remember when my dad was as hopeful as you are. Hah.

Quail is in negotiations for next year. Meat chickens this fall. I'm watching over Kiki's shoulder as she learns. Looks like I'm gonna have to get a bator and learn for the quail hatching. Will be very interesting. Do you hatch quails? Or buy them locally to raise?

Maybe I'm just looking for excuses here but since only one of my eggs hatched, do I need to get a chick so this one isn't alone? Keep in mind it is with mother hen, but is the only baby. Opinions please.

I bought my first ones as chicks to get started, and have been attempting to hatch my own since. Quail eggs are supposed to be quite easy and forgiving to incubate but I’m super new to this and my diy Bators have not been perfect obviously so I haven’t had much luck with that yet. High hopes for my new bator build tho!

More babies is usually more better lol. But momma might not take another chick so you’d have to be prepared to brood them yourself if that’s the case.
