Silence Is Not Golden Here

I didn't say I don't enjoy them in some form. I think they're great in the incubator!

Bleh. I was forced to eat scrambled eggs with bacon as a child. It's repulsive. The only way I eat them now is concealed inside something else - such as a batter - or, on very rare occasions, poached with toast. One of the few things I actually add salt to. I'm not generally fond of anything fried, and I can't stand fat. I dissect my steaks before eating them, to remove all visible fat.
We could live a perfect life together - I would eat all the salt and fried eggs and you can have all the steak you want with gross poached eggs. The dogs can have the fat :)

I’m not a huge bacon person either (actually, pork in general). That combo specifically is how I handle eggs and bacon, and drowning in hot sauce is a must.
I have a hard time with pork. I have pet kune kune pigs and they are just such neat animals. They're smart and sweet and keep the grass down nicely. I do enjoy gross things like breakfast sausages now and then but I always do my best to purchase humanely raised, local pork.
@Zinjifrah - I am also considering poults next year! Though, like you, I am worried that I'll end up with more mouths to feed :/

Well... and probably trying to hatch some. I still want to make an EE/Serama cross.... Hey, I've got the Cochin/EE cross chick... maybe someday an EE/Cochin/Serama cross.... Fluffy legs, a fluffy face, and a serama strutt?
Do you happen to have pics of your EE/Cochin mix? I have a couple standard EE pullets right now and a Bantam Cochin roo. He does get the job done so I was thinking of hatching some nest season to see what I get. I'd love a potential visual!

Weeeeell.... here's a photo from the day after hatching;

Let me go try to get a photo of what it looks like now. Bear in mind, it's only a week and a few days old - and I have no idea what gender yet.

If I ever have a place to set up for them I want a couple kune kune pigs. They are so cute but I have read their meat is great quality. Are they not used for that purpose often they are more expensive or is there some other reason?

I would consider them way too fatty for a good meat pig and slow growers. They are also on the smaller side (comparatively) and vary quite a bit in weight. I have two gilts. One is pretty large at around 225 and they other is probably not even 150. They are both three years. The larger of the two, Whipple, is fat even though she eats only grass and fruit/veggie scraps. Some of you have seen this photo before, but here she is as a piglet sitting for raspberry treats.

I see. Well she is too cute! Are they just pets?
