She hasn’t laid anything in the last two days but with the Fourth of July and family over it’s been hectic so none of the hens have laid. Actually we had one go broody instead.

The heat has cut mine back big time and literally like six of my hens have gone broody at random times since spring including my Marans. They're a bunch of freeloaders!

the only way *I* can know what is going on is to follow the whole thread... Other folks might be better at, whatever, but I do feel more comfortable getting a feel for what is happening.

We have had a broody Maran sitting for two months now. It’s looking like she’s only got two viable eggs out of the eight she’s had. I had started an experimental incubator with some old eggs that started developing so I put them under her, I guess I’ll be giving them to the other. I don’t know what we’ll do with all these chicks, we don’t need them at all.

I feel ya! I have five bantam cochins - they ALL went broody at the same time. It took two weeks in the rabbit hutch to break them! They just now (after two more weeks) started laying again. I have to snatch the eggs as soon they lay them so they don't get any ideas.
I did let one hatch some pheasant eggs and she did a brilliant job!
