Silent Migraines

hey. i have those all the time. i have Chiari Malformation. thats what causes my symptoms. i am in pain almost 24/7 most of the time its bearable, sometimes when i go numb i end up in the ER, as i cant remember who i am and where i wam, also the headache after the numbness and such is AWFUL worse pain i have ever felt.

i have been suffering from these for as long as i remember. im glad now we know what it is, but unfortunatly there is only treatment and no cure... *sigh* hope you figure out what is going on!! ((HUGS))

Food. It's a love /hate relationship.
hum. yep. Blackeyed peas cause me to lose the ablility to use my right arm and leg.
The visuals, I get kinda used to them. But normal would be great.
I do not read as much as I used to. Some 'blob' is always in the way.

So, we just keep plugging away thinking we are alone, and then we find out that there are others like us out there...with chickens.

A couple of times a year I will get a "silent migraine". I have a very trippy visual disturbances on one side for about a half hour and then... nothing. No pain, no nausea... just a little disoriented by the aura.

I used to have debilitating regular migraines several times per month! Since eliminating caffeine and gluten from my diet I do not have them. I almost feel like the "silent migraines" are a warning that I am not being as careful as I need to be with my diet!

Wow, I wish that I could get them under some control. This is kinda new to me, and instead of learning how to love with them, I am still figuring out what the symptoms are! Like today, I would up with a sore throat, and it has worked into a full, not so silent migraine! Love the comment about how we do the best we can with it, and find others as well, and they have chickens!

so, speaking of loud...do any of you get static? I do not mean ear noise, I mean head noise when you have a migraine? If the visuals are from a neurological storm in our visual cortex, then is it possible to have a neurological storm in our auditory region of our brains?

I feel strange asking this because we don't want to admit we see things and hear things.
I get static in my eyes and static in my ears, It's like an old black and white TV with a bad antenna reception.

I have laughingly referred to it as "the Humming" that I used to get whenever math was discussed in my presence. Talk about ADHD from heck! But yes, now that you mention it, that is one of the reasons that I seem to cover my head. Not just the light, but so that people will stop talking to me, because the more that I hear around me, the TV, people talking, etc., the worse it seems to get. Never looked at it as static before. Great understanding!

I get optical migraines sometimes. My first one was when I was really hungry, waiting for someone to cook dinner. It was weird, seeing all kinds of flashing lights and lines and things. Fortunately they are pretty rare. Otherwise I only get migraines from food allergies-red wine and shrimp.
