Silent rooster

So I have a Rooster, actually I have two, one has established dominance and for the most part they get along. However, the one Rooster doesn't crow at all, never has, he tried one day and it was the worst sound, but he never did it again. He does go through the motion of crowing, he opens his beak and dips his head like he is crowing, but no sound comes out at all!!! Is this a normal thing?

The presence of a dominant rooster can lower testosterone levels of other roosters in the flock. Not at all unusual for a subordinate rooster to not crow. If he crows he may get his butt kicked.

I HAD 2 ROOSTERS ONCE IN A FLOCK OF ABOUT 18 HENS AND THE DOMINANT ROOSTER WOULD CROW REALLY LOUD AND THE OTHER ONE DIDNT CROW I BELEIVE IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS NOT THE DOMINANT ROOSTER
