silke questions

New silken owner here! How is their egg production? When do they start laying? I just got a partridge silke who was hatched in April.

I've only had a few Silkies, but here's my experience with them. I had 3 hens and a roo. If I remember correctly, mine started laying around 7-8 months old. They were pretty good layers, about 3-4 eggs each a week (I think, its been a while since I had them). I didn't buy them for egg production though, just sheer fluffy cuteness. They were some of the friendliest chickens I've ever met. Good luck!

My Silkies lay every other day, my Hens are sweethearts, but the Roos are territorial. Am thinking it's a free home or Freezer camp for them.

Not territorial at all... just got them today, and it just hung out and was really mellow... now fighting nothing.

The Black one? Looks like a hen. My Males have very LARGE purple Rose combs.
