Hey All,

Yesterday I purchased 3, 6-month old silkies. I laid out there water dishes and filled them, however, when I checked them at 11:30 am, it did not appear that they "found" their dishes. I live in Phoenix, where it is hot, so finding water quickly is essential. I held their heads near the water, and they appeared to drink a little, but not much. The idea, was to teach them where the water is, if thats even possible. I then put some watermelon and they devoured it, clearly drinking a lot water. They seemed much better afterwards. My question, will they eventually learn to drink out of the bowls before they die from dehydration? I am still pretty new to raising chickens. For example, a dog will pretty quickly figure out where to get water.
Thanks
