Thank you!Not the best photo for sexing! But from what I can tell looks to be female. When you say she was sexed do you mean she was DNA sexed?![]()
I do not know of any hatcheries that sex Silkies as chicks. Where did you get her?Thank you!
I just mean that when I ordered her from the hatchery, I paid extra for a “female.”
My Pet Chicken sexs silkies!I do not know of any hatcheries that sex Silkies as chicks. Where did you get her?
Doubtful their accuracy would be as high as with standard breeds.
The only way to be certain with Silkies is DNA sexing and that also depends on how well you collect your sample that is sent to the laboratory.
If you want to provide a photo of Miss Banshee, close-up of her crest pushed back so that we can clearly see her comb and a good full body full side view would be helpful. She does look female in your photo above though.![]()
What are the stats on their accuracy, do you know?My Pet Chicken sexs silkies!
I got her from mypetchicken.com— I’m not sure what method they use. But so far, two other supposedly female chicks have turned out to be roosters, so I’m definitely not getting the “95% accuracy” they claim. Sigh.I do not know of any hatcheries that sex Silkies as chicks. Where did you get her?

Yes even with DNA sexing the price definitely goes up for a chick. Cost about $15 to get one chick DNA sexed. Not actually sure... The price is too ridiculous for me to ever get some through them!
