i think i know the answer to this one, but wanted to post a picture just to share. i bought two batches of silkie hatching eggs from a seller on ebay. Each batch produced one chick with the black skin but with regular feathers. Here is the oldest one now at six weeks. She/he is developing cheek feathers that stick out, amazingly like our Ameraucana hens. When i went to that ebay sellers site again to check what else she sells, it includes button quail eggs and (surprise) Ameraucana hatching eggs. Me thinks one of her Ameraucana roosters might be in loves with one of her Silkie hens!
