Hello,

I've just hatched a sweet little silkie chicken, but I'm not sure of his color. I'm not even sure about which parents he comes from, I just know that the breeder only had a white rooster, and had patridge, black, white, and a few more hens, but no blues. So I've got this little guy. He looks sort of like a little penguin. I love it, even if he's a little mutt.

A video shows his colors best, so here it goes:

Baby Silkie

Isn't he lovely?

I also have a little white, and 4 more to go.

For me, it will be a 100% hatch rate, 6/6. I'll keep you posted.

And PS:
Here is the white baby.

I've now got 2 white bearded silkies, 2 that look like white/grey (black?) mixes, and the first one in the video, who I think is a patridge/white mix. He has a white face and white feathered feet, but a sort of soft mottled reddish-brown color on his back that suggests patridge to me. Also, his face has a slight patterning to it, but nothing like on a patridge baby.

I'll get more pictures soon. I have one egg left, that seems about ready to start zipping.
