i just got 8 blue silkie and 2 white silkie chicks from Bobbi Porto at indigo egg silkies. if i have 2 white hens or 2 white roosters, and i need a mate for the white ones, and i hatch a white from the blues would it be ok to mate the whites from the blues to the whites i got from bobbi or will they carry the blue gene. and if i hatch a few lavender chicks and i mate them what color will i get?

White to white will always get you white. It is when you breed out from white to other colors that you don't know what the white is covering up.

2. Consider lavender as the same as black, unless you get two copies of the gene, one from each parent, in which case it looks lavender. It is suggested to NOT breed lavender to blue or splash, just black.

From blue parents you will get splash, black and blue. The splash kinda look white and if your talking about them then most likely when bred with the whites you will get all blue. Of course white is an off switch so you never know whats underneath until you breed.

And I along with a few other breeders have had great experience breeding lavenders with both white and black. But thats because our whites are based on black so the chicks come out black carrying lavender. Also Bobbi Portos stock has lavender in her BBS so its possible to get some lavender chicks when crossing with lavender. Or at least I have

I love Bobbi's birds, she has an awesome line. Congrats.
