Silkie chick has odd growth on nose.

My little silkie chick has an odd growth on his nose. It's his left nostril. Inside the little mass is some yellowish stuff and if you pick at if there's some blood. Anyone have any idea what it is ? Want to help my little baby out.

It could be a blockage made up of food and secretions, which can turn into a concrete-like substance. Try dipping a QTip in peroxide and softening it. Then use a toothpick to try to get it out. If you Google blocked nostril in chickens, and look for Brown EggBlueEgg for a good article to help.

Great to hear. This can be a common problem, especially when feed gets wet or when using fermented feed.
