Did it help? My 12 week old chicks have it. I read use Corid and only on day 1. Now it seems 3 of the six look sick. I feel helpless. Please let us know if it worked? I'm also concerned that my dog can get it from walking into the pen? UGH
Oh no!!! Are your babies outside free ranging? Or still in a brooder? We determined that the little chick we had died because he ingested a small piece of rubber band that our toddler accidentally dropped in the brooder. Fortunately, all the rest developed no systems of Cocci but we still treated with the Corid per the recommendations above to be cautionary. All our Silkies are healthy and happy and we’ve not had any bouts of bloody stools since.
As far as the dog getting Cocci, I Would limit your dog walking in the coop or in the run, etc. Although Cocci is species specific, it can still possibly get infected. So just try to minimize its exposure.
