Hi,
I have a silkie chick around a week old and today I noticed their toe was completely folded under the foot. I don’t know if this was an injury that has just happened but I hadn’t noticed this before. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Having raised lots of Silkies, this is not uncommon with them. They can have toes that are turned upside down with the claw facing upward, and so on. In your girl's case, the toe looks broken. Can you verify if the bone is intact or not?
I know the chick is young and the bones will be soft, but there should be normal motion and some resistance if you move the toe through its range of typical motion. Give that a gentle try and report back.
If you can move the toe back to its normal position and use a tape/bandaid pad to fix this toe and the others on either side of it (for support), you may be able to turn this around since she's so young.

Thanks. I have tried to gently move the toe back and it only moves about halfway back without resistance. On moving it, the issue/deformity looks to be in the joint closest to where the toe meets the foot. This joint looks a little enlarged/misshapen. I could potentially splint it partway back and maybe over time I could work it up to straight but I am not sure if that would work?
