silkie chick with head tipped to the side. Please help

We hatched 1 chick out of 8 eggs in the incubator. I had to help cracked the shell as the chick was dry inside and could not get out although his peeping was very strong. He seemed fine the first day, but then when he tried to walk he would tip over and curl in a ball. At first I thought it was his legs but upon closer inspection, his head is cocked to the right and he can't get his balance. Other than that he is adorable and seems fine. Help please.

Silkies are prone to neurological issues under the best circumstances. It sounds like this little guy was not born under the best circumstances.

I would start treating him for wry neck. There are several meds you can use. You may want to start with a vitamin regimen and see how he responds to that. I quick search through the archives will give you the various treatment options.
