Silkie chickens and egg laying

the people at the store said to keep them on the Dumour chick starter grow until they were 4-5 months old, so I did...
We used to use Dumor chick starter and then Dumor layer. Now we're using Kalmback starter crumbles and layer crumbles but regardless, it's advisable to keep any breed chicken on starter/grower until they start laying eggs. The reason is that they need the higher protein and less calcium the starter/grower has in it and don't need all that calcium of layer feed until they lay. We only switched from Dumor because TSC was out of their layer crumbles once and Chewy had a sale that day on Kalmbacks and could get it to me faster, so I ordered #100 and stayed with it.
