Silkie chicks are growing up!

Our little flock is growing up. Starting to get fluffy. The Barred Rock pullet actually will eat from my hand. The Silkies look on with curiosity, but aren't that brave yet. They still don't like to be picked up, which is a bit frustrating since we want them to be tame. One of them has a bare rear end. Is that normal? We lost one chick the first week to pasty butt, so I'm afraid maybe I pulled off some feathers when I was cleaning them those first 2 weeks. (?) Still don't know gender for certain with the Silkies.

Those are some really small crests on those silkies which in my limited experience tends to lead to males, and are you positive thats a barred plymouth pullet? I am time and time again proved wrong with plymouth rocks but thats a lot of white on the head and a very yellow beak/legs?

These are the first chicks I've ever had. I got them from the local Rural King; didn't know where else to go, & wasn't crazy about shipping. I certainly don't want noisy, fighting roosters! I was told at Rural King that this was a Barred Rock pullet. I thought the Silkies would be fluffier by now. Could they be too warm? Thanks for your input!

Shipping is usually a last resort, or at least it should be. Silkie roosters are known for being the sweetest, both my silkie hens and my little cockerel are super sweet, I also have a pair of silkie mixes (male and female) and they are both super sweet! Male silkies are known to help raise chicks too, or so I've heard <3
They seem like they are feathering out just fine for silkies who are rather strange feather-ers. How old are they? And for temperature, what do you have it at now? Are they huddled together at the light or are they far from the light usually? (or sleep NOT under the light?)

They are about 4-6 weeks old. They have a brooding lamp about 4 feet above them. They sleep touching, but not totally huddled up. They are becoming more tame, with lots of time spent with them. They've been fun!
