That is so true! There is so much I still am learning about myself, and if you haven't used something or dealt with a problem in many years, it is easily forgotten! And I doublechecked my info anyway to be sure before I blurted something out. I have learned so much on this site from others, and I'm grateful for it. It's also been so many years since I raised goats, and in those days we had no special feed and it was hard to even get loose minerals for them. All I remember is vaccinating for clostridium C & D. So i have no info on med feed for them.
There is never a stupid question here, and I have been corrected many times on here. In a pleasant learning type environment. Mary thank you for your information, especially about assessing your risk. Here I learned to use medicated feed until the bag is gone, by then the chicks have enough resistance (except for Silkies) and in this clay soil things tend to hang around. Someone mentioned it takes awhile for chicks to be affected having to do with the protozoa life cycle and that is also true. It just takes research here. Lots of good info and lots of confusing info.
In other news I keep Oxine, Elector PSP, Corid, and Deneguard on hand. Very expensive but worth their weight in gold if you have very many fowl. Oxine and Elector are safer more organic type product I use for sanitizing and getting rid of mites, lice. I have an enclosed completely coop and run that not much can get into except mice. I still had run ins with mites and lice. I couldn't believe it. But these product make it easy to keep your flock healthy. You can learn about them on this site with a search. I still have to look up my notes on these when I have to use them. I also use Valbezen to worm.
