Just got some silkie chicks. When and how will I be able to figure out the sex of them? What are some signs I should be looking for ? Thank you!

You can start to tell the difference at about 8 weeks old. Roos will have redder more developed combs and waddles than pullets. A roos tail feathers might also start to get more pointy.

Silkie roos will act cocky and have a very wide gray almost black comb. Pullets tend to be quieter and less hyper if you will with a skinny comb area. Pullets hair tends to be longer and more wild looking as well.

I’ll make sure I post pictures when I get back from vacation. I’m sure it will be a little more clear then. Thank you everyone
