Please tell me my Buff Silkie isn't going to turn into another white!!! I think it may end up being my roo, but either way, why are there white feathers growing and hardly any tan color??? Is this something normal with Buffs, or am I looking at a fourth white silkie??? Please help!!!

You can definitely tell him from the other silkies because they're yellow/white and he's tan/orangey and white.... I'm confused! Lol

How buff is the mother/ father? white over buff can give a very light gold colour, also colouring often changes in silkies as they get older ( just like gender can ) if its buff over buff then it could be a throw back ( to when silkies were white/ one of the grand/great grandparents)

Idk... TSC baby. There weren't many buffs in the bin, but I wanted one. Figures it would be the one to grow almost all white feathers! Lol. There is still some light tan on the tail and chest mixed with the white, but not much. :(

My question is why would his fuzz color be so much different than the other 3 whites? His fuzz was orangish-brownish with some yellow patches. All my others were just a pale yellow... I just don't get it. :/ Weird!

Genetics do strange things, I'd keep him just to see how he grows ( from a genetic perspective I find this very interesting ) however I do think he may become a very light buff or an off white colour. Though given that you got white ones as well it is likely that there was a buff over white which produced a diluted colored chick

His head feathers are finally starting to grow & so far are holding the buff color! Keeping my fingers crossed...:fl

Well...... Feathers grew in mostly white.

A little off white on its head, I suppose. I can tell the difference between that chick & the others because of it, but not by much.. I don't get it! Heres before & after photos..

You can tell that chick from the rest BIG TIME only 2 weeks ago! It was the same color as my mille!!! What the heck happened??? Has anyone ever seen this before??

I've never seen a buff/ white turn into a white... however I've had many blacks become a partridge colour, or black with a few buff flecks which is a huge annoyance and disappointment ( breeding jet blacks is more difficult than it sounds) and I've had a few blues become blue/buffs . I would suggest getting a buff pullet/rooster later on if buff is what you want.
