Hi, I have a color question. I have a chocolate mottled rooster over chocolate cuckoo hens, chocolate mottled hens and chocolate hens. Can I expect them to produce chicks with all 3 of these colors? Thanks

I know you’ll get chocolate mottled (chocolate mottled x chocolate mottled) and chocolate recessive mottled (chocolate mottled x chocolate). I don’t know what you’ll get crossing chocolate cuckoo and chocolate mottled

I would think mottled chocolate over cuckoo chocolate would give chocolate pullets split for mottled and chocolate cuckoo cockerels split for mottled.

Yes, those chicks will be chocolate mottled.

Yes, chicks from that cross will look plain chocolate but carry the gene for mottling.

I agree. All chicks will be chocolate. Sons will have white barring and daughters will not. All chicks will carry the gene for mottling.
