Hi!

So, I am a first-time silkie parent and I have five Silkie chicks that are all quite different in color. I was just wondering if you could give me some indication of what these silkies will look like as adults? Do you have similar photos of your adult silkies with similar colorings to show me? (I have numbered my birds for ease of referencing).

Silkie #1 has a pale yellow body with vivid black and brown spots
Silkie #2 Is very black with perhaps a hint of brown
Silkie #3 reminds me of a tabby cat, it has hints of a light golden brown with black striping and areas of grey on a yellow body.
Silkie #4 is quite a mix of dark and light greys with a blue hue.
Silkie #5 is unusual, it has a very bright yellow head, pale yellow body and a light wash of mousey brown on the back and a little grey on the breast and overall her/his coloring is very subtle.

I know some of them may end up larger versions of what they are now but as I am a new silkie owner I was curious to see what the adult birds coloring might be - I think they have the prettiest marking that I have ever seen in birds and I am very excited to see what they become.

I hope to hear from you :)

They are very young to tell at this age, but there is a black one. Maybe a few splash Silkies in there too. I'm not too good with Silkies, since I don't own them - but I know the basics.

Also, welcome to BYC!

Hi! What color did your silkie #1 turn out to be? I have a similar colored 2 week old chick that was expected to be a paint but has striped wings like your chick
Hope you don’t mind me answering. The ones with the stripes usually end up being some kind of partridge. Sometimes they are partridge mixed color. Often times their adult feathering looks nothing like their chick down. Paints do not have stripes at hatch. Post a photo of your chick!😊

Thanks! All my partridges have been much darker so her light stripes threw me for a loop! Here she is at 2 days, 5 days, and 2 weeks.

She’s a cutie! 😍
Looks like she’s going to be some kind of partridge with those wings coming in. Will likely just be a lot lighter than the ones you’ve seen before. She likely has some other genetics going on besides just the Partridge.😊

Thanks! She's a great chick! Her stripes are so pronounced and pretty. I've seen a few people post chicks with her coloration but haven't been able to find pictures of them as adults! It'll be interesting to see how she develops
