What makes you say that? I'm just very confused how they couldn't be 100% silkies. I bought eggs from a lady who only had silkie chickens and showed them to me is why I'm so confused. I see that the wings are different than everyone else's, but the rest of his fluff is the same.Definitely not full silkie.
Well silkies don't have naked necks to begin with. And pure silkies have silkie feathering. If you look at the website I shared you'll see how silkies should look. So either she had mixes to begin with or she showed you what she wanted to. Did her silkies look like whats on the website or did some have naked neck and smooth feathers like yours? What makes you say that? I'm just very confused how they couldn't be 100% silkies. Silkie Feather Genetics is recessive, & needs two copies: h/hI'm curious to see how Blondie feathers in. She still seems to have a lot of baby fluff. As for Scooter, I'm guessing she crossed a turken (aka naked neck) with a silkie and got a first generation showgirl that doesn't have silkie feathering. But it's just a guess. I don't know how all the genetics work for feathering type so maybe 2 showgirl with smooth feathering in their history could make a smooth feathered baby, but I'm not sure.
Thank you.Silkie Feather Genetics is recessive, & needs two copies: h/h
One copy results in soft, but solid feathers: H+/h
No copy results in hard/Solid feathering: H+/H+
