What diatomaceous earth is safe for chickens for home defense pest control? Is this okay, or no?

Some feeds have it included, to manage insects in the feed before you buy it. I'd rather not buy old feed, or poorly stored feed, and can't get excited about the need for it anyway.
As @BigBlueHen53 mentioned, it's useless for anything when damp or wet, and it's also bad to inhale when dry. Just avoid it!

Thank you for reiterating that. One of the books I read, mentioned it being added to the feed and as an important part of a dust bathing area for the chickens. I’ve used it sparingly a few times in my garden. I’ll avoid using it all together with the chickens.
