I have started raising silkie chickens this past year. I am fairly new to them. I started with a splash rooster and two white hens. One thing I love about the breed is that you cant keep them off the nest. I have hatched so many babies! One of my babies recently hit 6 months and he has a purple straight comb. But his parents are pure as were their parents which I have seen. I read online that there is a 30ish% chance that pure silkies can have a straight comb as a genetic defect. Can anyone enlighten me on this please. Thank you!
