I have two silkies and one of them appears to have a few "REAL" looking feathers on her/his wings as well as the hair like ones...

do you think it's a mixed breed or do full blown silkies have a few 'real' feathers on their wings?

You can sort of see them in this pic (the bird on the left)

and a little in this pic (bird on the right)

My purebred buff Silkie has "normal" feathers on the ends of her wings. I don't know if it's per the standard or if it would be a fault or DQ. I don't care since I got her to be my broody girl, not to be a show bird.

A person whom I believe breeds show silkies, told me it's not a 'desired' trait but these are pets, so I don't really care, just curious...

I guess they are called 'hard feathers' and some lower quality silkies have them...as well as less feathering on feet and smaller poofs on the head...

I personally would prefer all those 'undesired traits' for myself...it's the feathering feet and poof that I don't really like...however, the feathering feet is growing on me, so I guess if they have poof heads, it will grow on me too...

The silkie breed has taken it's sweet time growing on me...I personally thought they are ugly bad birds, but for some unknown reason I got two at the farm supply and then realized the hassle of having two different sized birds (my other birds and these) but now that they are beginning the intergration process and it's looking good, I'm starting to like them...if all goes well I'm sure I'll adore them in due time...LOL

My Silkie came from a show breeder as one they didn't want to keep for breeding/showing, so I didn't expect her to be anything spectacular. I posted about her on your other thread.
