Silkie Cross Breeds

20180623_105405.jpg
I did the barred rock cross silkie cross. 2 hatched both identical except one has normal amount of toes versus the extra toes that silkie have. Both have feathered feet

I just recently hatched 8 little guys. My first batch was a partridge Cochin hen/white silkie rooster cross, Two frizzled polish chicks (one roo/one hen) blue polish hen/same rooster, and five gold laced seabrights/same rooster (two frizzled and three straight feathers.) They’re absolute joys and they aid me in a program for animal therapy at senior homes!
Absolutely love silkie crosses.

I think I am a purest. Why? Cross? We have just Silkies and only Silkies. Don't understand why combo breeds? Sorry. We all have different ideas. They are all beautiful...it's all a matter of your taste.
I personally like only PURE SILKIES or pure other breeds. Regards, Aria

why even say anything then? Don't be the hitler of the chicken world, ha ha. Of course keeping pure breeds is great, but an occasional cross doesn't seem like a big deal. I realize there is a lot of pure-breed snobbery out there, and much of it is great because helps keep breeds intact, but what's the harm of the occasional cross in someone's backyard?

Planning on crossing some next year, what does everyone think (in terms of egg colour, size, crests, colour) about:
Spash Jersey Giant hen x white silkie rooster
Wheaten marans hen x white silkie rooster

I’m curious about crossing my naked-neck silkie mix hen with my Easter egger silkie cross rooster. I’m wondering if their baby would have a chance of the silkie’s feathers or not?

View attachment 1716606 I’m new to this, just 1 yr in to the chicken mom life. We just had our first chicks hatch. We only have silkie roosters so... I'm fairly certain that we have a silkie x siciliano buttercup! & it’s probably the cutest thing ever! Checkout the chipmunk markings and fuzzy feet!
