More cockerels from that pairing. There are 22 left (with a few pullets in there), and all have the same coloring (minus the leakage on the pullets), right down to the gray skin.




The fact these cockerels SHOULD have Yellow shanks instead of Dark Slate is a Genetic puzzle, Those Birds should be Id/id+ and I know they should be Fm/fm+ but something is restricting the Id expression..

This is our little almost 11 week old silkie Cochin X...anyone have any guesses whether we should be listening for a cockadoodle or waiting for an egg? ;)

its actually not a surpice at all, you see when you cross a Silkie Rooster to any hen with yellow/white shanks you are creating a Sexlink Cross, The Females will have black skin and the males will have white/yellow skin, their shanks may become slate but their skin will remain white...
