Silkie curled toes

First hatch of silkies had 50% curled toes. Any idea if this is hereditary ? I made them splints with scotch tape & they have improved in 24 hrs....

I've been told that can happen if the temp in a incubator was to high, I'm sure others well know what else could of happened. Glad you are trying to straighten the toes!

These chicks were hatched from hens, but we have had many days of temps in 90's lately.......The standard orpies are normal.

I have a 2 week old chick with a curled toe.

Is it too late to put tape on it?

No, it's not too late. Try using a small rounded piece of lightweight cardboard and tape it carefully so the toes are flat. The chicks should wear it at least a week.
