How long has it been since the first one hatched? They can live in there for up to 3 days because they absorbed the yolk that sustains them. That's why hatcheries can ship day-old chicks.

I have 7 healthy chicks. You have your musketeers and I have the 7 dwarves. It was stressful. 3 mottled silkies and 4 cuckoo. 1 still in incubator came too soon. Leaving it in incubator seems strong we will see.
Gorgeous little babies!!! I hope they are all growing strong and happy and the other one also arrived well!!!ā¤ļø

It was touch and go with my last one I had to assist. I thought she wouldn't make it and still feeding separately. But I named her/him. "Ali" after the fighter.

Awww what a little cutie! I don’t envy you having to assist, I was so scared of having to do this!

Hope little Ali grows to be a big strong chicken with all your help!!
Such sweet eyes 🄹

@Debbie292d Thank you!! Wow that’s a lot of silkies!! Definitely had the right person answer my post LOL

I have now created a YouTube account and uploaded the video… would love to hear what you think!

Hi Debbie,
I am using a NR 360 for the first time for silkie chicks. I have eggs that were started under a hen (from a friend) and we are not sure the exact incubation start date. Most are about the same date - she estimated 7 to 9 days. A few may be older or younger than that. I have 14 eggs. Estimating lay date is 10/1. It is currently 10/15. Do I start lockdown 3 days a head for all which would be 10/17ish (they are silkie chicks and my silkie chicks have almost always pipped at day 19). I am candling eggs tonight. If the eggs, once candled, do not appear to be hatching within a few days of each other, is it okay to open the incubator to hand turn, during lockdown? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
