silkie experts.....get your glasses on please!!!

I think the first sign was the fluffier tails....but the last week i began to notice all 3 of the suspected boys had what sure looked like streamers to me. I was hoping that it just looked that way and they would soon lay down and blend with the rest of the feathers.......

no such luck! So i do believe i will have 3 splash roos. I plan on keeping one.....but will try to find good homes for 2. I am hoping a splash silkie roo with no comb or waddles will be easy to place as people seem to like that in silkies.

I have 3 four day old silkies, one has spur bumps! The other two don't! And lucky me, one is a very light gray, one is a cream/gray, and the "male" is partridge, so my guess is they're not related!!!!!!!!
But I'll have to ask Melanie to be sure. Karen

lurky - that last pic of the splash you posted is definitely a macho boy. Good quality silkie hens can take up to 7-9 months to lay their first eggs. Didn't know if you'll realized that.

Sara - the EE is a girl.

I heard that they can take a while to lay. The ones i have that are laying are not what i would call good quality. Cristina33 told me that the higher quality might lay later. If you think that the lat pic is a boy, then all 3 splash are boys. I wish it wasn't so, but they all are built like that. The thing is, they are not much bigger than the one girl that is all blue. I plan on keeping at least one of the boys. I think i will re-home at least one...and i'll have to see about the 3rd. Is it wierd that i have not seen them try to mate or crow at 4 1/2 months? I thought i heard one weak crow-like sound, but nothing concrete.
