This is my 4th or 5th hatch chicks I'm trying to sex....

These are some things I've noticed, and I want to know if anyone agrees or thinks it could mean anything.

My hatchlings are 7 weeks old. 1 buff silkie and 1 white silkie have a comb that has begun to redden... they also have visible wattles coming in. My other 3 silkies, same hatch, have the dark combs that blend with the skin still... and the wattles are not pronouced at all.

I'm thinking these 2 may actually be roos... or at this point, could they just be fast maturing females?!

No one is crowing or anything yet (my last silkie roo didn't crow until a good 16 weeks old).

I can get pics if it matters... I just those are the only visible differences with these birds.

Just to add... this would be the perfect thing... and I'm really excited!!!

I did just want 1 white roo and 1 buff roo and if this is for real, then I got exactly what I wanted!!! How lucky could a girl be. LOL

so my secret on sexing is to hold them gently upside-down and if they continuously kick their legs or if the hold their legs up they are roos......unless you just have a really crazy pullet........lol......AND if you hold them and they relax their legs and hold them in a downward position then they are hens......doesn't work 100% but its better then just guessing!

Yeah I tried this before MANY times... I ended with a couple extra roos then I needed and had to give them away. Not to mention I hatched these chicks myself... and they are pretty friendly, handled way too much to be bothered by anything you do to them.
