Silkie feathers

My daughters 4H project is a Silkie and my sons is a Pekin duck. Well the duck has grown attached to the Silkie and always cleans it. We were looking at the silkies feathers and they seem all beat up. Was wanting know if these look normal and if not, if we keep the duck away, will they be fixed by August?

how old is the silkie? is it pure bred? and when did it moult last? the feathers look fine, they are supposed to have a different appearance than the average chicken due to their different feathering

The Silkie is about 4 months old and has not molted. It is supposed to be a full breed Silkie. Thanks for your help. We thought the duck might be messing up its feathers so we separated them. Now both are sad

Ok then well I wouldn't worry about the feathers getting damaged by the duck.
