Silkie genetics question

I was just curious on how the lavender colored silkie came about? I heard something about someone breeding certain colors until they got the lavender color. I have a hard time reading and following the threads on this topic, so if someone could please fill me in on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

They came about by breeding a Silkie to a breed that already had the lavender gene, probably a Cochin. From there it took years to improve on the quality to come up to the Standard.

Actually I think it came from breeding to Old English, not cochin. Lavender is still new with cochins
