Hi all,

I'm waiting impatiently for my silkie chicks to hatch. I'm trying to get my head around genetics but its not going well.

I have a black rooster who has mated with black, partridge, white and lavender pullets. My question is what will I get?

I understand that white could be anything- in the past my white has hatched out a partridge so I'm guessing that could be the hidden colouring?

BUT... As my rooster is black does that mean they'll all be black? Hoping I might get some variations with the partridge and lavender...?

Any help would be great :-)

If the male has the correct genetics for black; then all the offspring will be basically black. The males may leak some silver or gold but the females will most likely be solid black.
