hello, I am new to this site, my aprx 6 mo old silkie has a swollen joint on right foot and will not eat. some heat in the joint itself and it seems to be in pain. I have got it to eat a few dried meel worms and drink some water with durimiacin (sp?) it is getting quite thin. I have tried worming it and giving it the med for coxcidia (?). gee wish I could spell

I think it is a he and it is very sweet and I so do not want to lose it. can you help...

If joint is warm, I'd treat as infection until proven otherwise. Get broad-spectrum antibiotic.... injectable if possible.

thank you so much for getting back to me so quick. I have had to give my ducks shots, hated it but did it. how do I know how much to give and what type I can give. I am a nervouse nellie when it comes to this I am always afraid I will give the wrong dose. when our son was a babe I always called my mom to duble check the dose. Goof ball that I am. we were going to talke it in but it would be like $100.00 min. we have spent so much on our flock and trying to do it ourselves now. do you know what kind I can use? what should I feed him/her should I force feed it a bit? on the side it has a tiney comb that is not like the other silkies male that is but it is larger so I thought it was a male. it has not crowed yet I thought becuse it was sick.

ok so I am new to this sight, I only see one reply here am I doing it wrong? I am not the best on the computer so I probly have alot to learn. I am still very concerned about black chicken and I am afraid it will not make it through till morning. It will not eat. I will force feed in the am if it makes it that far.
