hello! So this is our first incubator hatch, and one of our silkies seems to have issues with its feet! I’m not sure if it’s normal, and they work themselves out, but it doesn’t walk on one leg really and it’s toes are really curled, and then one toe on it’s other foot is under its foot as well. The others aren’t like this it was #3 of 8 that have hatched so far- and it’s been about 9ish hours.

Any advice from those of you that have done this before?!

You can use Vet Tap/Wrap to straighten out the toes, sandwich the feet between two piece; called a sandal ... Probably a vitamin deficiency.
Riboflavin deficiency; Poly Visol without iron, Vitamin B Complex, Nutri Drench, foods rich in riboflavin (eggs, ground raw almond, beef liver, fortified cereals, etc ) ... Being that the chick is just hatched, the easiest would be Nutri Drench & boiled egg yolk mash/wet with chick starter & water.

The right leg looks to be going outward, possible splayed or the way it was in the egg. There's a brace, I don't have a pic of it but if you do a search in the forum "Splayed Leg" it'll be there.

You can also check out the website "Poultry Pedia" https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/medicine-chart

I had a chick develop the CTP when it was 3wks old, after 2wks of treatment it was fine...
The last pic was he was outside looking at his broody mates, he got too cocky to put with them, kept picking fights

That was my plan when transferring to the brooder! I just wasn’t sure if it was a normal ‘just hatched’ chick thing or not! We’ve had to deal with a splayed leg before with a store bought chick!

Thanks for the reply!
