I have a silkie that lives with guniea and she is sitting on 7 eggs. I've never had her sit before in the cold months in maryland where temps drop at night to 28-38 degrees, though she has hatched 7 clutches of eggs in warmer weather. The pen covered with plastic only,so its like in open air with wind blocks. She has been a great brooder and I know for certain she is FAR more experienced than me about hatching eggs and brooding. Has anyone dealt with a simliar situation of broody hens in colder climates in open pens? All imput and opinions appreciated.
