This little one is the meanest chicken I have, naturally of course. I’ve been calling it Tim, saying “he,” but honestly I have no idea if I’m right. 6 months old. Can anybody tell if this is a Tim or Timantha?

I think at 6 months a cockerel, even silkie, should be crowing. I could be wrong though, but my 2 cockerels started crowing very early.

I have 3 silkies (hatchery stock, not that great quality), 1 cockerel (white) doesn't have beard, and got massive wattles at 6-8 weeks, other cockerel (black) has small beard and tiny crest and got wattles and a small comb at like 8-9 weeks, and one pullet (red) that looks almost exactly like yours but with darker skin and no comb/wattles at all. Both cockerels already started crowing and they were 12 and 13 weeks when they started. Currently almost 14 weeks old. I don't know about bearded silkie cockerels because apparently they don't have wattles. My Carlos (black cockerel) has wattles even though he has a little beard.

My point is, if your silkie is hatchery stock and is a cockerel it (probably) should already have started crowing and develops faster than show quality.
