We just walked out to check on our hens this afternoon and noticed drops of blood inside the hen house. A quick check of our hens and we realized the blood was coming from my son's 6 month old black silkie. She was sitting quietly with the other hens, eyes closed, she has dried blood in her mouth and beak and also dried on her breast feathers. She was fine this morning when we let them out into the hen's fenced yard and I saw her eating then.
I brought her in the house with the air conditioning on and put her in a box in a quiet corner. She still refuses water but is sitting with her head up and seems a quite a bit more alert.

She never quarrels with the other two hens she lives with, they are all pretty good friends. But, she is the only bantam in the coop. Is it possible they injured her? I was worried perhaps she got overheated, but today is quite a bit cooler than the past few weeks ( in the 80's) and their coop & house is always shaded.

I'm not sure how I should treat her. Is their any known disease that has symptoms that include coughing up blood? Or is it simply an injury? Either way, I'm not sure what to do to help her. She is our favorite, most gentle hen. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

I would monitor her closel for now (as well as the rest of the flock). Do not be too aggressive to act. Watch how she eats/drinks/poops and post more info. Also watch the others for any signs of blood on the nostrils, mouth and wing bars. It is possible she was injured internally..someone could have jumped on her and caused major damage. It is also possible she has a serious disease called ILT, which is what you need to figure out through watching closely. If no one else shows symptoms in the next few days, you can probably lean towards injury. I don't think there is much you can do for an internal injury except keep her comfortable and hope she can recover.
